Mrs. Knapp’s Scottish Scones Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsps baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Directions:
- Cut in 1/2 cup of margarine
- Add 1 cup of raisins
- Add 3/4 cup buttermilk
- Knead on floured surface
- Pat into circles
- Cut into wedges
- Placed on greased cookie sheet
- Bake 12-15 minutes at 425 degrees
If doubling the recipe, bake an additional 20-25 minutes
Notes:
Allowing the margarine to come to room temperature will result in loftier scones. Freezes well
