Aunt Polly’s Rice Pudding

A delicious nearly forgotten dessert:

1/2 gallon whole milk
1 stick of butter
3/4 cup sugar

Bring to a slow boil, add 1 cup rice,  simmer for 45 minutes,  stirring frequently. Set aside.

Mix together 1 egg, 1/2 pint of heavy cream, and 1 tsp. vanilla.  Beat until mixed, then add the cooked rice. Mix thoroughly, then pour into a large serving bowl and let cool. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve room temperature or refrigerate.  Enjoy!!!
